This is an honest, sweet comment. It is a sentiment that I have no doubt is shared by countless people who have found something deeper than just comfort from Ray's music. The pure, open honesty of Ray's voice can never be overplayed in my ears, and comforts me more than anything or anyone. I haven't been this excited or this impressed by a relatively "new" musical talent in decades (I'm 50).

He, or more accurately, his music, has gotten me through some truly horrific times involving my father's failing health. Interesting how you felt compelled to share Ray's music with your father and stepfather. From what I've read, Ray did not have a relationship with his own biological father. I'm not sure that this means anything - just an observation.

My biggest concern is that Ray be allowed to keep his privacy, his control over his music, and his dignity, as he now continues to live in the often corrupt and heartless world of the music business.

I kinda have this fantasy that Bob Dylan will call Ray up, befriend him, and help him survive. No one knows how to survive it (and ultimately flourish musically) like Bob Dylan.

Bob Dylan's survivability (both personally and the integrity of his music) in the music industry has been learned the hard way with a lot of sacrifice. I wish he could pass on what he's learned to Ray. I want Ray LaMontagne to keep who he is inside safe so he can continue to share it with the rest of us, as he does now so generously.
